THE NEW WILD MANIFESTO PROJECT

Concept design and visual design for the ten-step manifesto made for artists, designers and students. Proposing the adoption of artificial intelligence as a tool for discussing, criticising and decentralising humanity’s anthropogenic practices. At this point in our global ecological crisis, a radical shift in our destructive attitudes towards nature is required. This project contains a zine manifesto, a pack of ten prompt cards, and a website version.

Card Design /

The cards act as a condensed version of the manifesto made for artists, designers and students who are looking to integrate the ideas of the New Wild into their practice. The design was based on a simple monochrome palette with a splash of neon yellow, giving it both an informative nature while being playful and appealing to the target audience. The imagery was generated through a StyleGan machine-learning model, which links deeply with the themes of the manifesto.

Zine Design/

The zine acts as a small-published version of the manifesto. As a proposal against humanity’s anthropogenic habits, the choice of placing this manifesto in a zine form draws from its history within counter-culture movements. The design is minimalistic, informative and straight-forward as it guides the audience through the three themes: concept, tool and speculate.

Website Design

The manifesto comes within a website format as easy accessibility is considered. The design of the New Wild website carries the same visual elements of the physical pack - using the same StyleGan images to centre the visual aesthetics, a monochrome and yellow colour palette for consistency, and a simple layout for readability and easy navigation. The complexity within the website comes with the motion design and interaction design, which bring a level of playfulness to the dense text.
